My hobbies and more!
Web design, coding, and computers
The first website I ever made was coded using MS Notepad and a book on basic HTML back in 1995. At that time, I didn’t use CSS. Later, I found a good web editor called Allaire Homesite—that was in 1997.
Back then, I had a Compaq Presario 425 running MS-DOS 6 and Windows 3.1. I believe the CPU was an i486, with a 340 MB hard drive. To make file management easier, I installed Norton Commander.
I upgraded my computer to a laptop—Compaq Presario X1000 with Windows XP—in 2003. I don’t recall if I had another computer between the X1000 and the 425.
Around 2003, I bought another web editor called TopStyle, also a great program developed by Nick Bradbury. I’ve since upgraded to Macromedia Homesite, as Macromedia acquired Allaire in 2001. In 2005, Adobe acquired Macromedia.
After the laptop era, I returned to desktop computers. First was a Dell tower (I don’t remember the model number), then I built my own PC. Now I have an MSI Codex gaming computer with 10 TB of disk space and 48 GB of RAM.
As for web editors, I currently use Adobe Dreamweaver, now at version 21.6. In my opinion, it’s the most flexible web editor on the market today. The only downside is that it’s starting to feel outdated, as it hasn’t received major updates in a while—just some security patches.
Web and scripting languages I use
I use HTML 4.01 and 5, CSS 3, and JavaScript for 98% of my pages, and PHP for the remaining 2%. I’m mostly self-taught in HTML and CSS, but I did take a 120-credit web programming course at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), which I didn’t complete. I’ve also taken a few courses on Sitepoint.com, which I can recommend.
My websites
- Robban’s homepage: www.sm7oea.se
- My English version: Robban’s Homepage in English
These two are my personal websites, coded in HTML5 and responsive—so they’re readable on mobile devices.
The following two sites are coded using older standards, not yet adapted for mobile use—HTML 4.01 Transitional with frames. I took over these sites from the previous owner, and if time allows, I plan to rebuild them in HTML5:
- KatolikNU.se (in Swedish)
- CatholicNow.se (in English)
These sites will be rebuilt when I have time. Since they’re a mix of my own material and links to other sites, some links may not work as intended. It’s a big job to keep links updated—some point to entirely different content than intended, some have changed addresses, and some have disappeared altogether. A lot has happened in the world during the 27 years (1998–2025) that the site has been online.
Student project
The following site is a student project I created while studying at BTH. It’s coded using PHP, HTML/CSS, and is database-driven. You can find the physical museum in Ljungby, Kronoberg County, Sweden. Unfortunately, the site is only in Swedish, but you can use Google Translate—or ChatGPT or Copilot—to translate it.
